Cinnabar Vista Video Production
- Reboot (in pre-production)
A better path to a new life
- Cinnabar Vista is a Vancouver Island-based video production company that creates films promoting the concept of productive, positive change, and the reintegration of traditional societal values. Research and planning is presently underway with exploration into therapeutic communities, and is intended to provide a solid conceptual platform from which to kick-start this big project.
Currently in development, this project has promise as it could easily have worldwide appeal since the problem of drug addiction and the search for effective means of how to solve it is also a worldwide discussion. Relevant and timely, Cinnabar Vista is looking for the right broadcaster partner for this socially progressive, positive message.
- What are therapeutic communities?
- In Canada therapeutic communities seem to be a relatively new concept, and every 'new' approach/change is viewed with a cold eye. But what is a therapeutic community really? "A therapeutic community is a drug-free environment in which people with addictive (and other) problems live together in an organized and structured way in order to promote change and make possible a drug-free life in the outside society. The therapeutic community forms a miniature society in which residents, and staff in the role of facilitators, fulfill distinctive roles and adhere to clear rules, all designed to promote the transitional process of the residents" (Association of Therapeutic Communities).
- How do they work?
- At the center of their programs, therapeutic communities use a set of universal and culturally independent principles: attachment, containment, respect, communication, interdependence, relationships, participation, process, balance, and responsibility are ten values that therapeutic communities attempt to ingrain into their participants. The therapeutic community's treatment model is a living-learning situation that has a culture of enquiry. The goal of these communities is to create a bond between participants and the care workers in order to foster a set of values, and responsibilities that will allow for future social reintegration.
